MRankings - Barstool College Gaming Championship (Electric 18)

Two weeks down for the Barstool College Gaming Championship and as we expected, drama struck the scene last week:

Hasta luego LickMeDaddy and Adios NYU.

Also, due to the NYU Disqualification and a technical scoring error, Ohio State and Alabama just sneak their way into the Electric 18.

But now, let's focus on the teams that did qualify into your Electric 18. From tonight's competition, only half the teams will advance to the Nasty Nine Championship Week.

Watch the action go down tonight starting at 7pm EST at twitch.tv/BarstoolSports.

Power Rankings

In the Electric 18's Power Rankings, I will be highlights the 9 teams that I believe will advance after tonight's competition. GLHF

1) JMU

This should come as no surprise after the Round of 32. True, CJ and Jordo are the most well-rounded team in the entire competition. They were the only team to break 200 points last week and I expect them to continue this same momentum. The JMU boys play extremely well together and I expect them to hang onto the top spot going into the Nasty Nine

2) Baylor

Baylor made a substitution during the Round of 32 to supply Mr. Daft with some more support. The move worked out nicely in my opinion as their score rose from 133 to 160. With more chemistry going into this week, I'm expecting the Bears to finish top 3.

3) Notre Dame

ChaaseOG came to life in the Round of 32 and led the competition with 68 slays. Couple this with the Fighting Irish finally securing some wins and this team is looking deadly. Notre Dame's biggest key to victory is securing wins - we know this squad can slay with the best of them.

4) Michigan State

MSU came to play in the Round of 32 and finished 5th with 150 points, improving from their score of 134 in Week 1. I fully expect sleeveless StanMan34 to continue to lead the Spartans right into the Nasty Nine.

5) Grand Canyon

I was a little disappointed in GCU's Round of 32 performance. One of their teammates, Titan, ended up eating too big of a dinner which drove him into a food coma and overslept the tournament. GCU was able to find a sub that actually performed very well. EBatez still had a great week, but his kill count dropped from 85 (insane) to 55. Those 30 points could very well mean the difference between GCU being a top dog or simply middle of the pack. As long as they play their game, GCU will be in the Nasty Nine.

6) West Virginia

One of the biggest fall from graces (outside of Penn State in the Round of 32) - WVU went from top dogs with 205 points and dropped all the way down to 154 points. This inconsistency is definitely something to note. With the momentum going against them, tonight's performance will be massive for them to show if they have a real chance to win or not.

7) UCF

Previously called UFC in my previous MRankings (my bad) - UCF has proven to be a consistent team that can secure dubs. If they are on their A game tonight, I think they'll just sneak into the Nasty Nine. In Week 1 and 2, they scored 144 points and 145 points, respectively.

Also, they can't let Blake Bortles down:

8) Trinity (TX)

To me, Trinity feels like America's team for you Barstool College Gaming Championship. Small school with a lot of Texas pride - I really want to see these boys lock their spot into the Nasty Nine. Scoring 159 pts in Week 1 and 139 points in Week 2 - if they secure 2-3 wins, they're spot should be locked in the top 9. Also, I really just want another interview with their viceroy.

9) Tampa

This is probably the biggest surprise in the MRankings. Staino has gotten severely overlooked through this entire tournament. Consistently, he's been one of the top slayers throughout this tournament and has proven to be clutch in the previous College Gaming Championship. There will be a substitution for Dishonestcape tonight and I am hoping the chemistry for this squad is still there. If Will_Rub and Staino can get off to hot starts and finish with some dubs, they'll be in a great spot to survive the bubble.

There was a massive Warzone update that got pushed out this morning, I am very curious to see if it affects gameplay at all.

GLHF to all the teams competing tonight!
