This clip below is absolute insanity. I don't know how else to describe it - you're telling me this is a....video game?????? How...
This is the first gameplay trailer for a new game called "UNRECORD" which is supposed to be a bodycam-FPS. It'll be releasing on Steam at a later date.
I just don't get it. First off, how many tens of thousands of dollars do I need to spend on a PC in order to make my game look like this? I can barely get 90 frames on Warzone as is - my PC might just explode trying to load this game up.
After looking at this game initially, I was extremely skeptical that this game was real and not just bodycam footage from a cop/soldier. HOW does it look this real? After being bombarded by fake accusations, one of the developers proved just how real it is:
Now granted, it is JUST a gameplay trailer. We'll have to wait and see until a potential beta released to really judge this game.
Regardless, it's undeniable how good the marketing tactics were from Unrecord.
Once this video starting really getting around, it drove some attention in a separate light:
Whether you're a Trainwrecks fan or not - he does bring up a really interesting point. Up until this time, we've seen realistic video games but nothing like what we're seeing from this Unrecord trailer. Now I've never been someone who thinks violence in video games impacts the greater world, however when it gets so hyper-realistic, I do think you can make an argument.
I'm not sure what precautions the studio will (or really can) take. Outside of Call of Duty, I've always been a fan of more sci-fi or fantasy styled graphics anyway. Halo, Destiny and Apex are my ideal video game graphics. Sure they can be updated to look even better but gaming is a getaway for me. I enjoy being transported into a completely different world rather than playing a game that looks more realistic than looking out my window.
